  • The XMOS 16-Core chip processes the audio data received via the USB and S/PDIF digital inputs.
    This new low-latency XMOS microcontroller has greatly enhanced processing power. Compared to the current generation of eight-core chips, this new 16-core IC delivers double the clock speed (2000MIPS) and four times the memory (512KB), as well as the latest SuperSpeed USB standard.
    iFi’s in-house digital development team has programmed the XMOS firmware to optimize sound quality and ensure a perfect partnership with the Burr-Brown DAC.
  • The Burr-Brown True Native® chipset means file formats remain unchanged or ‘bit-perfect. This means you are listening to music as the artist intended in the format in which it was recorded.
    iFi Audio uses Burr Brown extensively in their products having selected it for its natural-sounding ‘musicality’ and True Native architecture.
  • Hi-Res True Native® playback of all music formats from MP3 to DSD256, PCM384 and DXD384.
  • MQA is an award-winning audio technology that enables music fans to stream the original master recording into their home, car, or on their mobile. In the words of Gilbert O’Sullivan, iconic Irish-born singer-songwriter, “The great thing about MQA is that it delivers the finesse that was there in the desk sound. It’s tremendous, it sounds really good.”
    MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is supported through the USB with full decoding of MQA files up to 384kHz thanks to the processing power of the new 16-core XMOS chip.
    This means that the full ‘three unfold’ decoding process is performed internally, as opposed to only the final unfold in the manner of an MQA ‘renderer’.
    Globally, MQA has become an important consideration for any comprehensively equipped DAC. It is available through Tidal Masters, Audirvana, and Roon.
  • Extensive jitter-eradication technologies are applied to the digital stage, including our GMT (Global Master Timing) femto-precision clock and the intelligent memory buffer.
    The low-jitter crystal clock has been updated to provide >20dB better performance

    Highly Recommended!

    If you are unsure about what dac amp to get or should you buy an external dac amp, do yourself a favor and get this one. I used JDS atom before buying this. I can confidently say this is better than atom.

    This device has one issue though! Zen dac v2 will bypass windows audio controller. So you you won't be able to control volume from your pc or keyboard. That's the only downside of this device.

    Amazing product and super quick delivery. Highly highly recommended.

    Small form factor yet a powerful. Clean detailed sound signature. Pair it up with a quality headphone or IEM that can complement it, you get great sound quality.

    I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a DAC/AMP solution!!

    For anyone already using the first iteration of the Zen DAC, are suggested not to upgrade to this as the V2 is better but not by much. If you're worried about jitter, this thing nailed it. I've noticed substantial improvement have been made in that department. This thing can drive almost 70% of the most popular headphones, maybe a bit more with power match turned on, and I think this is plenty for most of us, who just like to listen to good clean tunes. Yes, there are some artificial coloring going on but I don't mind that and I'm sure most others won't as well. Absolute bang for buck. If I ever get a headphone that's harder to drive, I'll just add the Zen CAN and call it a day. I just have one little complain about the product packaging, yes it came well secured with plenty of bubble wrap but the inside was a mess!! The silica material was rolling everywhere, which is why the unboxing was a bit unpleasant. The device is fine but the unboxing was very messy. So a little more attention in that part would be appreciated. Still 5 stars for the excellent service. Thank you.
